Mohamed offers a rare blend of diverse senior international in-house and private practice experience. His career spans global roles in Washington DC, Riyadh, Cairo, Baghdad, Rome, Dubai, and Canberra. He has particular strength in the infrastructure, energy, and resources sectors, having held senior positions with global organizations including Amec Foster Wheeler and General Electric. He is equally comfortable in the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors, having also held high-profile senior roles at Orascom Telecom/Weather Investments and Seeing Machines. His work also includes major business crime investigations, involving enforcement actions by the US Department of Justice, the UK Serious Fraud Office, France’s Parquet National Financier, Italy’s Guardia di Finanza, the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF), and the Australian Federal Police.
In private practice, Mohamed has advised on international border disputes, large-scale industrial and infrastructure projects, and substantial corporate legal services, including multi-billion-dollar financings and mergers and acquisitions. In 2003, during the Second Gulf War, he co-founded the first full-service international law firm in Baghdad, Iraq, representing clients involved in the country’s reconstruction and those investing in its private sector. He advised on numerous landmark transactions, including the first acquisition of an Iraqi private bank by a foreign financial institution, the establishment of the international banking support facility for the Trade Bank of Iraq, the launch of the country’s first mobile phone operator, the reconstruction of war-damaged energy and power infrastructure, and the modernization of the Iraqi Stock Exchange. Mohamed leveraged this experience over his in-house career, providing governance and compliance solutions to help clients successfully navigate complicated issues in challenging environments, including war zones, sanctioned countries, and post-conflict regions, and in countries such as Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Somalia, Libya, the DRC, North Korea, Mozambique, and Haiti.
Mohamed has strong governance credentials as a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He has served as a regulatory administrative decision maker and was the inaugural chair of the Conduct Committee of the Council of the Law Society of the Australian Capital Territory

With his extensive experience in corporate legal services, he is also an adept data protection and privacy officer, particularly in data-heavy and AI-driven environments, providing governance compliance solutions to organizations operating globally. Mohamed's international law expertise is underscored by his standing as an Attorney and Counsellor at Law admitted to the Supreme Judicial Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (1999) and to the Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia (2000). He is admitted as a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales (2022) and holds an unrestricted private practicing certificate as an Australian Legal Practitioner in the Australian Capital Territory. , He is a registered practitioner at the High Court of Australia. His educational background includes a Juris Doctor (JD) from Northeastern University School of Law (1999), a Master of Arts (MA) in Middle East Studies from The American University in Cairo (1996), and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business Administration from the same institution (1994).
